After a week, some people still didn’t have power, and the S.M.A.R.T. emergency team thingy I was interested in last year gave me a call. I never got around to contacting them and doing training and all, but this time was as good as any! I’m not medical personel, which is the program’s focus, but as support staff I still get the badge, etc. — but when they asked me my profession, I didn’t expect them to put “Web Designer” on my credential!

Anyway, I helped out at two local warming shelters. One was an old folks home at which I did little more than play chess with one of the “displaced persons” and help the REd Cross bring in more food … man, were they out in force. It felt like there was more chiefs than indians. And the other place was a community center called C.R.U.C.I.A.L., and the home of a radio station I discovered was ran by an aquaintence I knew as a manager years ago at the Office Max I frequent.

The kicker? I may have the opportunity to make a radio show. More as this develops …
