It’s official. Sunny day in the 30s, little wind, and I was in my first Veteran’s Day parade. I marched in Marilla with Levi’s Battery, Civil War reenactors commemorating a time in history no one alive can personally represent.
During most of it, Mer was in the Marilla Country Store, ecstatic with consumer joy. She said everyone jumped when the cannon (mortar, actually) went off outside. We never knew the store was there. It’s reminiscent of Vidlers and is so big and packed full of amazing stuff, I forgot what floor I was on and described it pejoratively as Disney World, only larger.
Then we finally used the fire pit one last time, for juicy 1/3 lb. hamburgers with BBQ potato chips. The perfect end to an Indian Summer.
