This year I’ve gotten involved in restoration of the oldest house in South Buffalo, the “Buffum House” on the next block. I built a website (yet to be used) and did some outside painting. I’ve also started reading a pile of historical materials loaned to me by Matt Fisher, Councilman Kearn’s assistant. I had no idea Red Jacket lived in a cabin in Buffalo, let alone down thr street!
The house itself is a gem. I’m afraid to get Merry a tour for fear of house envy — rambling layout, spiral staircase, vast yet relatively light basement, and just the age of it. It must have been something before the fire, which was around the time we moved here.
