Sure, I was 36 at the time … it was just last Saturday, as I took a break from the WNY Gas & Steam Show in Alewxander, NY. If you haven’t guessed, I’m the one the kids mistook for Obi-Wan Kenobi.
There was a whole skit where I trained the 3-8-year-olds complicated things like swinging a lightsaber and which hand was right and which was left. Then they fared off against Anakin after he (she, the birthday girl’s mom) turned to the dark side. She had sith eyes and all … kinda creepy, yet cool.
Anyway, Christina and Lizzy went with me to the Gas & Steam show Friday to Sunday. They rode the tram most of the time nad later hung out at the food place by the tractor pulls, talking with a boy they met last year named Devin. Really cool kid. I’m glad he took up my invitation to eat and sit by our campfire for a while.
And one last point … I’ve been so behind on this journal … everything … that I missed an awards ceremony for my daughter. Jsut a small one, but important enough that I planned to be there — limites seating and all — and didn’t. I feel like crap about it. I hardly miss anything in her life compared to a lot of parents, but I seem to lack the discipline to focus consistently in my life. Merry and Kristen sat around the kitchen table with me the other day and we concluded that my whole body rythm was off. Consequently, I went to be early, got up early, and had a MUCH more focused and productive day.
Maybe I’ll get the hang of this “life” thing someday after all.
Re: Well …
damn expensive robes 🙂 though I’m sure worth it
Re: Well …
A Japanese gi costs about $15-$30; a custom-made robe costs $100-$140 … the rest is dark boots and non-descript pants. A thick belt or dark sash completes the look.
Re: Well …
lol how expensive?
Well …
I wore regular clothes from my unconventional wardrobe, but the robe was borrowed. I know people who can make them, and I know where to get the rest … just let me know!
lol I can’t even tell you how cool that is 🙂 I want a Jedi outfit damnit….
