Publicly posting this. Honest opinions needed.
Avatar It's something I've been researching for a couple of months. (Taking way to much time and effort out of my schedule, actually, but someone beloved to me will be taking courses. I have some information and opinions both good and bad about it, and want to know I am being reasonably objective.) So here's the gauntlet. Let me know what YOUR impression of it is. I'm not looking for people who've experienced it --...
I’m distraught and drained.
A little while back I decided to research an organization known as Avatar. Google or Wiki it to save me the trouble of trying to explain it. Anyway, when I say "research" those who know me know this means enough-to-write-a-book-professionally kind of intensity. So I read their materials, read testimonials by existing and former people who are/were involved, went through related court documents, look at criticisms...
Woohoo! I did it!
I've been named TIme Magazine's Person of the Year! I've worked hard for it, but I'd like to thank my Mom, Jesus, Elvis, and the stumped staff at Time itself. Without some combination of those entities, it would not have been possible.
Something (else) I’ve been saying …
If being right about something before it becoming popular knowledge was a muscle, I'd be buffed. Cow 'emissions' more damaging to planet than CO2 from cars http://news.independent.co.uk/environment/article2062484.ece
A Friend’s Ordination
I've been so unfocused lately that it took me a full week to post about it, but sare_liz became a full priest last Friday. It was a wonderful, kinda out-there ceremony, and I got to meet the (Episcopal) Bishop and other interesting people. It was the first ordination I'd ever been to, my first Episcopal mass, and the first time I was a woman acting as priest at the altar. And when I received Communion, it was...
Car Accident, Times Two
On the onramp to the 219 going to the farm this morning, I started skidding left and right, correcting but spinning more each time until the truck spun sideways with the bumper and front passenger wheel hitting the guard rail (small posts with three tension wires). It almost took the front bumper off, smashed a headlight, and the steering failed, so I could only go back and forth. So I sat there, facing traffic,...
This could be YOU.
Am I the only one freaked out about this? Didn't we revolt against England over things like this? What the hell has happened to Our America? http://www.nytimes.com/2006/12/04/us/04detain.html?ex=1165899600&en=d1a72bbb2b02b8bb&ei=5065&partner=MYWAY
I live and die by email …
I've said that a lot the last few years. I really do live by email. And sometimes -- like last night -- I die. I rebooted over and over, and restarted Outlook over and over, trying to not have it freeze. I turned off all other programs I could, TRIED to defragment -- TWICE -- and ran various cleanup, anti-virus and spyware programs, even uninstalling old games taking up space. But my Outlook folders file (.pst) is...
Sakar Digital Concepts 89379Z
I had Merry pick up this camera for me at BigLots for about $40. It was 3.1 megapixel, no frills, but I should have known. It had a nice screen, some decent options, and took decent video, but as a camera, it just sucked. It didn't come with a card, only internal memory, and no batteries. It also had no real zoom (just digital), no shutter cover, no macro setting, but was lightweight and I thought it would hold me...
