Prayer … and a bit of shame
I've been praying for someone for quite a while, and all the while been thinking of ways to help them, somehow forcing the situation through some personal effort to resolve itself where it needed to just happen on its own. Not only did it happen -- and out of the blue -- but it gave an opportunity to work toward another issue I had been praying about. And my faith about all this was growing limp over all this...
Letchworth, the Civil War, and Me
I had never been to Letchworth State Park before. Merry had biked there years back, and I remember an old black-and-white home movie of my parents and grandparents going there, likely lost forever. But that's about it. It was really beautiful, but I didn't get to see much of it. It was too cold to camp overnight, so we went on Sunday, and for one purpose -- I was appointed Chaplain of Thomas's Legion Light...
It will make you want to Polka your eyes out …
This guy stole a graphic off one of my sites a while ago -- a Polish-American flag I designed. But he linked to it directly, so I replaced it with a washed out version with a message: "I'm stealing this graphic and bandwidth from Stuczynski.Org and KenVille.Net (either I don't have a clue how to use the Internet or I'm just a thief and don't care.)" It's been many months and this guy didn't even seem to notice, so...
More Freak Sightings (of Me)
I will never live this time of my life down. http://www.somethingawful.com/d/cliff-yablonski/cliff-yablonski-horrible.php?page=4 (I'm in the "Rock Band" pic, circa 1990)
My Famous Mutton (Chops)
I found through the WordPress admin panel (for this journal) that someone was linking to me, or rather an image of me. A blogger from California (Cerebral Metalhead) apparently found me as an example of this fine physionomatic coifure, and upon inspection, sure enough I found my mug on page four of Google Images under "Mutton Chops".
Gearing up as a Sub
I'm making the occassional Tai Chi class again at Red Dragon in the McKinley Mall. The plan is for when Sifu Bob Gott (the owner) goes to China for 10 days to be tested on his Tai Chi that I will lead the classes while he is gone. I thought I would be rusty, but apart from remembering some movements in the second section and beyond, it all came back to me and I felt like I was doing it better than before.
Clean Sweep
Maybe it's from watching the TV show "Clean Sweep" where they help people throw out stuff and reorganize living spaces, but I've finally got up the courage to sort and toss. I started with excising a big box of books. Then Merry and I did major triage on the basement storage area. We made a hefty donation to the dumpster and to Yai Yai's Attic (the garage sale shop at the Hellenic Festival) as well as a few...
Oog burn wood! (at home)
I've been jonesing for a fire pit since they were on sale last Fall. My goal? Having a campfire any evening I want without packing everything up and having to get home before people's bedtimes. So ever since the weather started getting acceptably warm, I've been searching roadsides for a truck tire rim (as from a semi). From asking around -- after having no luck coming across one randomly -- Miller's Truck...
New Blog
From now on, I'll be posting entries here: http://kenville.net/wordpress/ I will still have my LiveJournal, etc., and post exerpts and digests of what's on the new "central" journal, so feel free to stay in touch here. In fact, I link to my Friends page from there. Peace out, Ken
