This Old Bench
Weeks ago, Jeff & Audrey abandoned their old park bench (which may have belonged to the complex). It was totally beaten up, so I decided to see what I could do with it. First, I used my "mouse" sander to remove the outer layer of grit and worn wood from the planks and back. Then I replaced one of the planks altogether for being too warped, along with some of the brass hardware - I couldn't find any ANYWHERE, so...
Haven’t updated in awhile.
Bet no one has ever titled an entry THAT way before ... Anyway, I always have weird dreams, but I had another Tsunami one the other day. And more of the usual places, such as my old home on Bellwood, my grade school (again last night), D'Youville College, and my grandparent's home - or more like a much larger farmhouse that reminds me of it. And all intersparsed with stuff from Halo or some other sci-fi mythos from...
Wierd
Found the Koala (alb3rt_s) in my bed today with two young ladies. No, I didn't take pictures. Yes, I thought about it. They were cabbage patch kids, so ... uh ... should I be concerned?
A Touch of Regret
I was never a "fan" of Pop John Paul II. But I should have been. Even though I practice Roman Catholicism, I've never been a papist. I figured any pope would be looked up to and respected (or hated) because of the office itself and what it represented for good and bad over the centuries. I never really got to know the man at all until he went on his final pilgrimage home. I was always level-headed about church...
Trip to Boston
We got back Sunday evening, no one showed for the usual Sunday retreat, and I'm still catching up on work. And now, the Koala bear (alb3rt_s) is trying to push me off my own computer so he can update his journal. We didn't even unpack yet, so he doesn't know about the stuff I got for my birthday that I'll be giving him, such as a camera, butterfly net, backpack, etc... And he's acting wierd. Ever since we came home...
My Koala Bear has a LiveJournal
He really wanted one, so I set one up and showed him how to use it. He has an uncanny aptitude for HTML as well, though he calls it "hyperscratch" for some reason. I figured at the very least it would dilute the LJ site of its overwhelming mostly teen and 20s female angst. One can only hope. Anyway, he is alb3rt_s, and is using the journal for field notes on our house.(?) Apparently he landed a project with...
Annoying CRat
This little creature is constantly in my face, licking my beard (which is really cool the first 1389 minutes), attacking the screen cursor, and I'm having trouble typing right now as I speak. Can't it ever leave me alone? I love Joey and he's too cute for his own good, but he's ALWAYS in the way unless I crate him (which I have been doing more and more). Heaven forbid I even leave a glass of milk, water, or...
My Birthday Present
A few weeks early, but Mer wantesd to surprise me before I figured it out for once -- and she did. She took me to the Galleria Mall to get me a Build-A-Bear. It was wonderful. I was the only one there over four years old getting one I think, but I loved it. It was a special expereince, though I was actually nervous or slightly self-conscious about it. The ritual has a certain spirituality about it ... placing one's...
Theme Song
Merry always thought that to herself, but a client and her spouse made it clear after a zany evening consulting with them that I -- personally -- need a theme song. Yes, that would feel SO natural, now that I think about it. But Mer doesn't want to encourage me. She knows me too well. Although she did suggest "Neptune" after I mentioned Holst's "Mars, the Bringer of War" ... I'm thinking of a particular piece on...
